Carehia ("Carehia," "we," "our," or "us") operates the marketplace platform at carehia.com, app.carehia.com, and work.carehia.com — connecting families who need care with independent caregivers. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Zip code, city, and state for matching and location services
  • Care needs and preferences (e.g., "Senior Care," "Companionship")
  • Caregiver profile information: bio, skills, certifications, hourly rate, availability, profile photo
  • Documents uploaded for caregiver verification (ID, certifications)
  • Messages and booking details exchanged through the platform

Information collected automatically:

  • Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps
  • Device information: operating system, device type
  • Session tokens stored in your browser's local storage
  • Usage data: features used, clicks, time on page

Information from third parties:

  • If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and Google account ID
  • Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card number, CVV, or full payment details

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account
  • To match families with caregivers based on location, care needs, and availability
  • To process payments and subscriptions via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (booking notifications, agreement copies, unlock confirmations) via Resend
  • To display your public caregiver profile at carehia.com/caregiver?id=X
  • To improve our platform through usage analytics
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users — Caregiver profiles (name, photo, bio, skills, location, rate, reviews) are visible to clients. Client contact details are only revealed to caregivers who have unlocked a booking.
  • Service providers — We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
  • Cloudflare — Infrastructure, hosting, and edge security
  • Stripe — Payment processing
  • Google — OAuth sign-in
  • Resend — Transactional email delivery
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — Marketing post publishing (only if you connect your Meta account)
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

    • 5. Data Storage & Security

    Your data is stored on Cloudflare's global infrastructure, including:

    • Cloudflare D1 — Encrypted relational database for account and booking data
    • Cloudflare R2 — Encrypted object storage for uploaded documents and photos

    We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, bcrypt password hashing, and session tokens that expire. However, no system is 100% secure — if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at support@carehia.com.

    6. Cookies & Local Storage

    Carehia does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use browser local storage to maintain your session (login state) and preferences. This data stays on your device and is cleared when you sign out.

    We may use basic analytics (page views, referral sources) through Cloudflare's built-in analytics, which are privacy-preserving and do not identify individual users.

    7. Your Rights & Choices

    • Access — You can view your profile and account data at any time within the app
    • Update — Edit your name, email, bio, skills, and other profile details in your Settings
    • Delete — Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@carehia.com. We will process deletion within 30 days.
    • Opt out of emails — Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or contact support
    • Public profile — Caregiver public profiles can be set to unlisted by contacting support

    If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA. Contact us to exercise those rights.

    8. Children's Privacy

    Carehia is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

    9. Data Retention

    We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records, which Stripe retains per financial regulations).

    10. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For material changes, we'll notify you via email. Your continued use of Carehia after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
